Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala culture, ca. 600 to 200 BCE. A hand-carved greenstone figure of abstract anthropomorphic form bearing fused legs, a string-cut neck line, and a minimalist visage that appears to be staring up to the heavens. Abstract figures like this are some of the earliest forms of figural lapidary artistry from ancient Mexico. Size: 0.95" L x 1.65" W x 4.9" H (2.4 cm x 4.2 cm x 12.4 cm)

Provenance: private Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA collection; ex-Minerva Gallery; ex-Benjamin Vega, California, USA, acquired in 2006 to 2007; ex-Gene and Virginia George, brought to the USA from 1961 to 1966
