Description
Pre-Columbian, Mexico, Guerrero, Mezcala-Chontal, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A wonderful greenstone figure of an anthropomorphic idol with string-cut arms, neckline, slit mouth, and ears, slightly bifurcated legs, and deeply drilled eyes - carved from an inherently beautiful stone of mottled pale and forest green hues. Size: 2.5" W x 4.25" H (6.4 cm x 10.8 cm)
Provenance: ex-Adeon Gallery, Chicago, Illionois, USA, acquired prior to 1970
