**Originally Listed At $400**

Ancient Near East, Anatolia, ca. late 2nd millennium BCE. A mold-formed pottery bull head that was intentionally created in multiple pieces. Each horn has a recessed cavity within the interior used to attach it to the original mortises that would have protruded from the bull's head. The upper half of the head features a pair of large ovoid eyes and a powerful snout with delineated nostrils. Size (head): 5.25" L x 3.8" W x 1.5" H (13.3 cm x 9.7 cm x 3.8 cm)

Provenance: private Alta Dena, California, USA collection, acquired in 1973

Condition
Horns are detached from head as shown, with lower half of head missing. Earthen deposits and nicks across most surfaces, with light fading to orange pigment, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to horns and facial profile.
