Description
Very rare Native American Hunting Pouch branded 'Tuscarora'. It was found in central North Carolina. The Tuscarora people are from the Iroquoian nation who migrated from the Great Lakes area into North Carolina around 1715. They fought with the Author Army in the Revolutionary War. Many of the Tuscarora Native Americans were treated as slaves or personal servants in the Piedmont region of North Carolina thus they left as a band of Native Americans from North Carolina in 1805 to return to New York. Rare to find an artifact related to such an important group such as the Tuscarora people. In the 'as found' condition with a strap that is broken. Made using Native American chewed deer skin. The bag is 8 x 6.5 inches, and the strap is 15.5 inches long.
