Description
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, North Coast of Peru, Sican to Lambayeque Transition Period, ca. 800 to 1000 CE. A lengthy pottery vessel presenting with 2 mold-formed chambers connected via a central channel. The spout doubles as a whistle mouthpiece, and the whistle - which creates a pleasantly high-pitched sound - is located behind the avian headdress. Condition
Professional repair and restoration, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Fading to original pigment, with softening to some finer details, light earthen deposits, and scattered pitting and abrasions, otherwise in nice condition. Great preservation to overall form. Whistle still creates pleasing sound when air is blown into the spout.
