**First Time At Auction**

Pre-Columbian, Colombia, Tumaco region, La Tolita culture, ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A set of 4 fragmentary pottery graters, each in the form of a stylized fish with incised grater scales. Three of the 4 pieces are adorned with a stylized fish head, 2 facing to the right and 1 facing to the left, while the largest fragment shows the body, a pierced tail, and lengthy grater scales. Used to grate various vegetables and to descale fish, effigy graters like this example were utilized in the Tumaco region of what is now Colombia by the Tolita culture. Size of largest: 6.6" L x 3.625" W (16.8 cm x 9.2 cm)
