Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Lambayeque-Chimu, ca. 700 to 1200 CE. A lovely blackware, single spouted and footed stirrup vessel depicting a seated lord figure wearing an oversized tumi-shaped headdress and holding a ritual implement/box or instrument that is finely incised with lively, geometric, textile-inspired motifs. Beautiful burnishing marks on rich black surface. Size: 7" in diameter x 9.25" H (17.8 cm x 23.5 cm)

Small chips to spout, bridge, and raised foot as shown but overall still quite nice. Whistle works wonderfully.
