Ancient Near East, Northwestern Iran, Luristan, ca. 1200 to 800 BCE. A set of 2 cast-bronze spear butts, each with a spike-shaped body emanating downwards from a stocky socketing shaft. Each weapon was used by swiftly spearing the spike into its target without having to dip the larger blade head down to perform the same life-ending task. Size: 13.25" L x 0.8" W x 0.75" H (33.7 cm x 2 cm x 1.9 cm)
