Offered here for your buying pleasure is a large group of documents formerly owned by Bill Bender, including correspondence, sketch books, and assorted doodles. A great collection documenting the growth of a well known artist, starting with his illustrated letter to his Mom declaring that he will be an artist someday. Continuing with his artist sketch books, including his instructors written assessment of the work, and on to a variety of sketches for finished art, book illustrations and some idle time doodling. PROVENANCE: These items come from a storage unit in the Victorville, CA area believed to have belonged the famous Godshall family who, among other things, had the famous C-G guest ranch near Victorville. This info was based upon the contents from the locker. In time, the contents were sold at a public auction. Well-known artists Victor Clyde Forsythe, James Swinnerton, and Bill Bender were all associated with the C-G Ranch, as well as with each other, and there were numerous items from these artists, and the Godshall family in the locker.
MAKER: Bill "Cowboy Bill" Bender. (1916-2016).
APPROX AGE: Vintage (meaning somewhere between 1930s to 1970s).
SIZE: Largest items measure about 14 inches x 14 inches.
CONDITION: Average to good for their intended purpose (i.e. most were not intended as final products) and age, normal wear and minor imperfections expected. Please look closely at the pictures as they are an important part of our description and are hereby incorporated into the description, specifically with regards to condition.
