Description
BRITISH PICTORIAL NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER, silk on linen, center featuring a large depiction of Adam and Eve at the Tree of Life with the serpent, standing next to crowns and flower vases on a green lawn with various animals, flanked by two larger flower vases and two flower baskets with a four-line verse above along top edge, below signed and dated "Ann Brazier / 1804 / AGed 12 Years.", all encompassed by a floral vine with buds to corners. Housed under glass in a 19th century painted frame with remnants of molding. Dated 1804. 11 3/8" x 14 1/2" sight, 14 7/8" x 18 1/4" OA.
Condition
Thread in excellent visual condition with bright colors and minimal fading/fugitive color, linen with several scattered holes mostly being small in size and some toning, frame with wear, losses to accent molding along inner and outer edges. Not examined out of frame.
