Description
Marion Frink's Pictorial Needlework Sampler, 1844. Worked in silk threads on linen with a two story house flanked by an arbor, bird perched at the top of a tree and pine trees, beneath a row of flowers, birds and an urn, stitched with the verse "Jesus Permit thy Gracious name to stand/ As the first effort of an infant hand/ And while her fingers oer this canvass move/ Engage her tender heart to seek thy love." and "Marion Frink aged 11 1844 LN Inst'ss." within a flowering vine border. Frame: H: 17.375 in., W: 18.25 in., D: 0.5 in. Provenance: The Dingman Collection, Hampton, New Hampshire.
