Description
AMERICAN PICTORIAL NEEDLEWORK SAMPLER FRAGMENT, silk on linen, featuring two framed reserves, each with a two-story house having a red roof flanked by one or two trees, the proper right reserve unfinished, the proper left having a blue ground with red symbols above, lower edge with a green outline border, top and bottom edges of linen being cut. Unframed, conservation mounted to cloth with a mat underneath it. Possibly Virginia. First half 19th century. 16 3/4" x 6 1/2" object, 18" x 8" OA.

Condition
Very good overall condition with some thread having very light fading/fugitive color, a few minute spots, top and bottom edges of linen with some fraying from being cut.
