Chromolithography is an exotic and uncommon printing process requiring a highly skilled graphics artist to interpret each color in a painting and draw it by hand on a stone plate. Those plate images are transferred to a special sheet of paper one plate at a time. This lengthy process used as many as 20-30 separate plates, making it especially time-consuming which is why it has rarely been used in the past 100 years. Because the artist must re-interpret the original painting while creating the individual stone color plates, chromolithographs are considered original art. A fine example with no discernible faults.
