Description

Pocket-sized brass field compass 1.75 in. dia., marked ‘U.S.’ on the front. In working order, featuring a classical star-shaped rose of the winds dial design. Unmarked, but believed to be manufactured by Taylor Instrument Companies of New York, matching other examples. Accompanied by the original carrying pouch and cardboard tag bearing the name of the owner R.C. Miller and his service number ‘838999’. Heavy oxidation to the compass, mostly at the front. Nicely presented in a 5.5 x 6.5 in. riker mount.
