Very important broadside released by the infamous official newspaper of the Nazi Party: 'Volkischer Beobachter', 1p. 17 x 21 in., Vienna, September 8, 1939, headlined: ‘Warschau gefallen!’ (‘Warsaw has fallen!’), and bearing the statement beneath, ‘Berlin, 8. September The High Command of the Wehrmacht announces: German tank troops entered Warsaw today at 5:15 pm.’. Depicted on the reverse is a map of Warsaw and the surrounding areas. Tape repairs on the recto and verso along the tears at the folds. World War II began with the German invasion of Poland, the fall of Warsaw being their first victory.
