Description
(1910-1988) Soviet naval officer. During World War II he distinguished himself in landings on the Kerch Peninsula, was later appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Soviet Navy by Khrushchev, and under Leonid Brezhnev oversaw a massive naval build-up. Manuscript D.S. 2pp. legal folio, [October 1952], a military attestation of the Captain of the 107th Naval Coast Brigade, recommending that he remain in this high-level position. Also signed by seven other Soviet generals and admirals, most notably Admiral NIKOLAI BASISTIY (1898-1971), commander of the Black Sea Fleet whose career spanned both World War I and II. Wear and toning to edges, otherwise boldly signed in light blue ink at conclusion and good.
