Dipinto originale realizzato da Rubino nel 1952 per la Gioielleria Abate di San Remo. Lo stesso Rubino compose una poesia a corredo dell ’opera: « Vestito di blu come il principe azzurro della fiaba, lo Zaffiro balza fuori da una profonda cavità della terra, rivestita anch ’essa di cristalli blu. Quasi volando, egli fa il suo ingresso nel paese del sogno dove azzurre sono le torri, azzurri i fiori e azzurrini gli zampilli delle fontane. Un uccellino azzurro lo guida trasvolando nell ’aria. » Firmata.
