A GERMAN SILVER SINGING BIRD BOX
crowned 't' mark, stamped 800, Hanau, in the manner of Karl Griesbaum, rectangular form, the top with an oval hinged cover decorated with a classical arch, birds and instruments, opening to a singing bird automation, the ornate case with neo-classical decoration in relief with floral swags, figures in 18th Century dress, bird motifs among scrolls, a scroll panel to the underside and a catch to the front in the form of a bird. 9.6cm long, 18.3 troy ounces gross
The movement wings. The cover opens, and the bird rises but does not sing or move. WIth a kew. Compartment verso for key.
