A William Carey (English, 1759-1825) Gould-Type Portable Compound Monocular Microscope, ca. 1827,
Signed Cary, London. Having tapered body tube, rack-and-pinion focusing, gimbaled concave single mirror, one eyepiece, two objectives, slide stage forceps, tweezers, two bone sliders, examination knife and needle.
Contained and mounted to a fitted mahogany box with velvet lining.
Assembled dimension: H: 7 in.
Box dimensions: H: 1 1/2 x W: 3 5/8 x D: 3 in.
