A Joseph Philip Amadio (1812-1892) Achromatic Compound Microscope, ca. 1865,
Signed J. Amadio, Throgmorton St., London.

Having tilting stand with compass joint, single mirror (replaced with foil), sprung stage, rack-and-pinion adjustment to the tube, three objectives, one ocular, thirty-four slide specimens, two glass slides empty.

Contained in a fitted mahogany box with drawer. Key and lock detached.

Dimensions when assembled: H: 11 3/4 x W: 5 1/4 x D: 4 in.
Box dimensions: H: 7 3/4 x W; 6 2/8 x D: 4 3/8 in.
