Description
From the Northern Maprik District and the Abelam people an abstract woven anthropomorphic effigy ornament, traditionally be worn by chiefs during war party raids as well as ceremonial dances. Known locally as a karawut which is made of knotted bush string dyed red and decorated with sewn cowrie shells and two curved boar’s tusks. The Ornament measures 13 x 5.25 inches.
