Bruce Willis has portrayed many memorable characters on the big screen, but none so iconic as John McClane. In the movie "Die Hard," McClane, a brave police officer, risks everything to foil a plot by the terrorist leader Hans Gruber (played by Alan Rickman) to steal millions of dollars in bearer bonds from Nakatomi Plaza on Christmas Eve. The movie was a huge success, earning over $140 million despite having a budget of only $30 million. It also spawned two sequels and was recognized by the National Film Registry in 2017 for its cultural significance.
