Thomas Cadwalader was the only son of General John Cadwalader was also a General in the Pennsylvania militia. Despite being a well-respected intellectual who was nominated for political positions such as Minister to England by President Monroe, Cadwalader declined all of the positions he was appointed to. His mansion was known as a resort for intellectuals in Philadelphia. This piece, dated March 10, 1819, was a letter written and signed by Cadwalader. It is concerning the shipment of a package for Cadwalader.
