Description
The Wilmington and Northern Railroad was built to connect Wilmington to the cotton fields of western Pennsylvania. However, it never only ended up going to Reading, Pennsylvania, and the Philadelphia and Reading Railroad later acquired it. This piece is an exchange ticket for the railroad that was issued in 1894. It is signed by company president William A. Dupont. Dupont was a famous banker, businessman, and figure in the thoroughbred horse racing community. He is well-known for his establishment of Foxcatcher Farm, a major thoroughbred horse racing stable.
