depicting "The Reader" after a model by Jean-Andre Reiche (French, 1752-1817), the woman seated on an Empire armchair with a stack of books behind, and a table in front with an oil lamp and claw feet which the clockwork and front dial are mounted, French ebauche 8-day time and strike spring-driven movement with silk thread suspension, dial signed "A. Paris"
