Typed Letter Signed, "C.G. Jung", in German, 1p, on his personal letterhead, 8" x 11.5", Kusnacht-Zurich, Switzerland, August 9, 1947.? Postmarked from same on August 12, 1947. Includes original 6.25" x 4.5" transmittal envelope with opening tear at top. Letter has expected mailing folds and is in near fine condition.
Jung begins his letter to his mentee, Dr.?Rivkah Scharf Kluger, with appreciation for her birthday letter and gift, a book by Rene Allendy. He then goes on to report that the basic guidelines for the institute have been created and will be discussed at a meeting with Dr. Brunner.
Jung founded the ?C. G. Jung Institute in Zurich, Switzerland in 1948? to provide training and conduct research in analytical psychology and psychotherapy. He led the Institute until the year of his death. In? 1979, the Institute moved to its present location in Kusnacht, a few miles south of Zurich.? Carl G. Jung (1875-1961) is one of the most pioneering psychoanalysts of the 20th century, with his influence extending to literature, anthropology, religious studies, and psychiatry. Jung was also an artist, craftsman, builder and prolific writer. Many of his works were not published until after his death and some are still awaiting publication.
Rivkah Scharf Kluger (1907-1987) was a Swiss psychoanalyst who was born in Bern but lived in Zurich from the age of two. She received her doctoral degree in Semitic Languages and Religious History from the University of Zurich. Kluger trained directly with Carl G. Jung while in graduate school. Her dissertation on "Satan in the Old Testament" was later published as a book. Kluger practiced for many years in Los Angeles and taught seminars all over the world on mythology and biblical stories. She moved with her husband to Israel in 1969, where she continued practicing and teaching at various Jungian training centers.
