Thomas Edison Signed Stock Certificate Transferred to Him as President

A stock certificate from Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated, signed by company president Thomas Edison. 1 sheet (front and back), measuring 12.5" x 9.25", New York, dated March 1, 1911. No. 7, issuing 200 Shares of $100 Capitol Stock to the New Jersey Patent Company. Signed by the company President Frank L. Dyer and Treasurer Ernest Berggren. The transfer form on verso has been filled out, transferring the stock to Edison on November 20, 1917. Signed by Edison as President "Thos A Edison" and by Secretary Ralph H. Allen. The stock certificate has flattened folds with small separations starting at the edges. Cancellation punches throughout, not affecting the signature. Toned throughout with light soiling. Boldly signed. Overall, very good.
Thomas A. Edison, Incorporated (originally the National Phonograph Company) was the main holding company for the various manufacturing companies established by Edison. It was incorporated on January 27, 1896, and later restructured and reincorporated as Thomas A. Edison, Inc. on February 28, 1911 - just a few days prior to the issuance of the above stock certificate. The New Jersey Patent Company was incorporated in New Jersey on April 25, 1903, to obtain and hold the phonograph-related patents of Edison and other inventors. The company's property rights were transferred to Thomas A. Edison, Inc., in 1911 in exchange for stock in that corporation. The company was in business for twenty years before being officially dissolved in December 1931.
