A Ronald Reagan signed magazine cover prior to his California gubernatorial bid. Tucson, Arizona, dated September 5, 1965. An excised front cover from "Parade: The Sunday Newspaper Magazine" published in the September 5, 1965 issue of the "Arizona Daily Star". Showing a smiling Reagan, with Lloyd Shearer's story headline: "Show business personalities enter politics. Ronald Reagan: He wants to be California's governor." The cover is signed and inscribed near the bottom center by Reagan: "To Louis Mandell / Best Wishes / Ronald Reagan". Walter Scott's gossipy "Personality Parade" is printed verso. 1 sheet measuring 10" x 12". Expected wear including toning, folds, and scatted minor wrinkles or closed tears, else very good to near fine.
Reagan began his career as a B-list actor who starred in World War II-era romantic comedies and westerns. He entered the political arena during the 1950s, initially self-identifying as a Franklin Democrat, but then transitioning to conservatism. Reagan served as Governor of California from 1967-1975, and as President from 1981-1989.
