An original vintage glossy color photograph, 5" x 5", Washington, D.C., April 8, 1963, of 35th U.S. President John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) at D.C. Stadium for the opening day game between the Washington Senators and the Baltimore Orioles. The image is a 1st generation photograph, developed from the original negative, taken and owned by Cecil W. Stoughton. The verso bears ?A Kodak Paper? watermarks and is annotated with the negative number C81-17-63. Certified by PSA/DNA as an authentic Type I photograph and encapsulated to an overall size of 6.5" x 10". In fine condition.
Cecil William Stoughton (1920-2008) was an American photographer, famous for being President Kennedy's official photographer during his years in the White House. He took over 8,000 photographs of the Kennedy family, both public and private, from the inauguration to the assassination. Stoughton famously took the only photograph ever published of JFK, Bobby Kennedy, and Marilyn Monroe together. He was also the only photographer present on Air Force One when Johnson was sworn in, and captured the iconic image of Johnson flanked by his wife and the still blood-splattered Jackie Kennedy.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
