A Group of Nine Embroidered Banjara Gala Textiles, India, Early 20th C. The Banjara textile is a gala which is part of a headdress used for carrying water. It hangs down the back of the neck, adorned with embroidery on cotton with mirrors, pompoms, and cowrie shells. Range in size from: 9'' x 9'' (23 x 23 cm) to 14'' x 11'' (36 x 28 cm). Provenance: Collection of Brooke and Dov Jaron, Philadelphia, PA.
