Kanduri Embroidered Textile With Applique, India, Early 20th C. Shrine cloth offered at the tomb of Salar Masud in Varley, Uttar Pradesh. Kanduri iconography often features a palace/temple, a wagon drawn by horses or bulls, and many armed men both mounted and afoot, often with wide borders with people and trees. Size: 3'1'' x 3'1'' (94 x 94 cm). Provenance: The Carol Summers Collection of Indian Folk Textiles.
