Kanduri Embroidered Textile With Applique, India, Early-Mid 20th C. Shrine cloth offered to the shrine of Salar Masud, Uttar Pradesh. Kanduri iconography often features a palace/temple, a wagon drawn by horses or bulls, and many armed men both mounted and afoot, often with wide borders with people and trees. Size: 3'11'' x 3'10'' (119 x 117 cm). Provenance: The Carol Summers Collection of Indian Folk Textiles.
