Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue and White Lotus Porcelain Large Bowl. Potted in a shallow, large thick and slight deep, flaring rim with close mouth rim, raised on ring foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered in white base color which contrast against blue color, depicted of lotus flowers blooms interspersed foliage and scrolling interlocking tendril. Lotus is one of the most significant flowers in the Chinese culture. It symbolizes the holy seat of Buddha. Because the flower rises from the mud and blooms in exquisite beauty it symbolizes perfection and purity of both the heart and mind.The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
