Pre-Columbian, Central America, Greater Nicoya or Atlantic Watershed, Period IV, ca. 300 to 500 CE. A delightful pottery urn in the form of a nude female shown seated with legs folded as she gazes forth from a characteristic visage of large ovoid eyes, a broad nose, and straight lips adorned with a labret. Crowned by a simple headband, the top of her head opens to her hollow interior, serving as the rim of the urn. Note how the artist has paid careful attention to detail as evident in her delineated genitalia, petite breasts, recessed navel, and areas of painted tattoos. Size: 5.1" W x 7.8" H (13 cm x 19.8 cm)

Professionally repaired with restoration in areas and some break lines visible. Light surface wear as shown, but otherwise very nice presentation with good preservation of detail and liberal remains of black pigment.
