Description: Mezzotint engraving by Alexander Hay Ritchie after the painting by Thomas Hicks. Image: 48x87 cm (19x34¼"); in modern frame: 66x101 cm (26x39¾").Group portrait of the eminent American authors of the time, including eight women, an uncommon inclusion at the time. Irving and Cooper dominate with their presence, but women also hold prominent positions in the depiction, and include Sedgwick, Sigourney, Stowe, and Fuller. The key identifying the authors was issued separately, not included. The original painting after which this was engraved cannot be located today.Additional shipping charges may apply
