Description:
Engraved map, engraved by W.J. Stone. 86x18 cm. (34x7").
Important map of the Sabine Texas, forming the boundary between the then Republic of Texas and Louisiana. This is the second edition of the map, as issued in Senate Ex. Doc. 199, 27th Cong. 2nd Sess., 1842; the 1840 first edition was issued separately, on a much larger scale, and is exceedingly rare. This is one of six maps in the report on the Texas-U.S. boundary survey, and is the primary map, showing the boundary line along the Sabine; the other five maps were details from the present map. Day, Maps of Texas, pp. 30-31; Phillips, America, p.753; Streeter 1432.
