Description
CONTINENTAL CERAMIC FIGURAL HUMIDORS, LOT OF THREE, each having dark polychrome earth tone glazes, comprising one example depicting a man in his sleeping robe and cap, holding a paper with "hol= / nische / Beitung" embossed to front, one example featuring a man holding a newspaper with hand-brushed writing including "1892" to front and a document case at his right foot, and one example depicting a man with spectacles resting on his forehead, wearing a robe with a ring of keys on his left side, and holding a paper with inscribed writing. Marks to underside include impressed "C.S.", "FCW", "JM", and various numerals. Johann Marish, Austria or Czechoslovakia; F. Gerbing Witwe, Bodenbach, Bohemia; and other. Fourth quarter 19th/early 20th century. 12 1/8" HOA.

Man holding "1892" paper having a flake to bottom rim interior, a chip to one corner of paper, probably paint touch-ups, and moderate scattered glaze flakes/losses; man holding "hol= / nische / Beitung" paper having restoration to paper and hands at wrists, some flaking, and other paint touch-ups; figure with keys having areas of restoration including hat brim and collar, and some paint touch-ups.
