Burnet, (acting) president, and Lorenzo De Zavala as Secretary of the Treasury, each coupon endorsed by Lorenzo de Zavala, printed and published by Southern Bank Note Co., and Endicott & Clark, New Orleans, made payable to Charles De Morse (1816-1887); 6" x 9 3/4", framed 12 1/2" x 16 1/4".

Other Notes: David G. Burnet (1788-1870) was the Interim President of the Republic of Texas serving in office from March 17, 1836-October 22, 1836. From December 31, 1838-December 13, 1841 David G. Burnet served as 2nd Vice President of the Republic of Texas under President Mirabeau B. Lamar (1798-1859). It was during this tenure as 2nd Vice President that David G. Burnet was appointed to serve as interim President while Mirabeau B. Lamar received treatment in New Orleans for an intestinal medical issue. That short and unusual window of time makes this a scarce document remaining from the Republic of Texas.
