Item Details

Description

For your consideration is a set of (2) Japanese "Order of the Golden Kite" Badges. The Order of the Golden Kite was an order of the Empire of Japan that was established on February 12, 1890, by Emperor Meiji. The Order was established "in commemoration of Jimmu Tenno, the Romulus of Japan." It was an exclusively military award conferred for bravery, leadership, or command in battle. The order consisted of seven classes and it was officially abolished by the Supreme Commander of the Allied Powers of Occupied Japan in 1947, after the Second World War.

Enameled Badge measures 61mm in total length and has a maximum diameter of 46mm. Badge weighs 30 grams.

Silver Badge measures 67.5mm in total length and has a maximum diameter of 43mm. Badge weighs 31 grams.

Provenance: Descended through the family of US ARMY COL (Ret) Howard Bressler (1918-2012), of Kileen and San Antonio, Texas.
