Description
RUSSIAN IMPERIAL BADGE TEREK COSSACK ARMY, 1912
This is a Russian Imperial badge from the Terek Cossack Army, featuring a gold wreath made of laurel branches adorned with plaited bunches of grapes. Positioned on the wreath is a gold double-headed eagle, situated beneath three gold Imperial crowns, with gold ribbons cascading from under the largest Imperial crown. On the Coat of Arms, there is a silver wavy ribbon inscribed with the dates 1577 and 1877. Below the Coat of Arms, you can see crossed sabres and a mace, with a gold Caucasian cross at their point of intersection.

PROVENANCE: From a private Russian collector in USA, July 20, 2018.
DIMENSIONS: 42 x 47 mm, weight is 14,36 grams.

HISTORY of SALES: For the past 15 years the same badge was appeared in 2006 on auction in Moscow. It was sold for $12,000.

WARRANTY: The buyer has 5 days to inspect items for originality, valued at up to $5,000, and 10 days for items valued at $5,000 or more. Items can be returned to the seller for a refund; please refer to the Terms for more details.

HISTORY: The Terek Cossack Host was a Cossack host created in 1577 from free Cossacks who resettled from the Volga to the Terek River. The local abTerek Cossacks joined this Cossack host later. In 1792 it was included in the Caucasus Line Cossack Host and separated from it again in 1860, with the capital of Vladikavkaz. In 1916 the population of the Host was 255,000 within an area of 1.9 million desyatinas.
