Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A wonderful trio of piercers or bloodletters, each hand-knapped from slender fragments of obsidian. Jet-black and mostly opaque, each implement exhibits a narrow profile with a pointed tip that was sharp enough to easily perforate human skin or tougher animal hide. Size of largest: 7.5" L x 0.49" W (19 cm x 1.2 cm)

Provenance: private Lakeland, Georgia, USA collection, acquired from family, originally collected by Carlton Godwin, El Paso, Texas, USA

One piercer with loss to tip as shown; remaining 2 piercers are intact. Each with light earthen deposits and small chips to peripheries, otherwise in great condition. Nice luster across most surfaces.
