Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Colima, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A fine pair of piercers or bloodletters that are hand-knapped from slender fragments of jet-black obsidian. Each tool features a stocky body with a gently tapered handle, smooth, lustrous surfaces, and a dramatically pointed tip that could pierce even the toughest of hide or skin. Size of largest: 9.5" L x 0.5" W (24.1 cm x 1.3 cm)

Condition
Both pieces have nicks and abrasions commensurate with age and the knapping process, with light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Nice surface luster throughout.
