Native American, Northwestern United States, Alaska, Inuit / Yupik, ca. mid to late 20th century CE. A cotton doll figure with a walrus ivory face, this fisherman is dressed for the elements in a fur parka, leather mitts, coif cap with seal fur, and boots with leather soles and felt cords. He holds bone / ivory fishing reel and sinew handline with an ivory lure, and his leather belt has a knife sheath. The sleek silvery- white fur is probably seal, a caribou back panel, fluffy brown waist trim and hood made of fox fur. Native Alaskan made dolls were popular souvenirs that often showcased the traditional lifestyle and diversity of Arctic animals that made life possible in the region for thousands of years. Size: 10" L x 4" W (25.4 cm x 10.2 cm)
