Description
Large Chinese Cloisonne Incense Burner, probably late 19th century-early 20th century in date, represents the artistry of this tradition beginning during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The incense burner takes its form from ancient Chinese bronze tripod. The surface is embellished with floral and scroll patterns. Shi-shi lions, protective deities, accent the three legs. A miniature lion is the handle that crowns the domed lid. It's open work design allows the incense smoke and fragrance to escape into the air.
