Ivan KHLEBNIKOV - RUSSIAN SILVER CHAMPLEVE ENAMEL SET, 1875
A very rare and incredibly nice antique Russian 19th-century silver and polychrome champleve enamel cutlery set is available. The set comprises a dinner spoon, a fork, and a knife. The handles of the fork and knife are adorned with Pan-Slavic champleve enamel patterns and feature the Cyrillic initials 'KP.' The spoon bowl also features the same decorative design. Extremely rare technique.
The SILVER items created using the champleve enamel technique are exceptionally rare and quite expensive. Please refer to the last three screenshots.
HALLMARKS: The knife blade is stamped with the Cyrillic maker's stamp 'VARYPAEV' beneath the Imperial double-headed eagle. Each piece is hallmarked with an '88' Imperial Russian silver standard, an assayer's mark with the date '1875,' and the maker's initials in Cyrillic 'I.H' for Ivan Khlebnikov. The set is presented in its original case.

Today, prices have significantly increased compared to those of 5-10 years ago.

Ivan KHLEBNIKOV: Khlebnikov was an Imperial Russian jewelry firm, founded ca. 1867 by Ivan Khlebnikov in Saint Petersburg, but transferred to Moscow in 1871. The business was highly successful and received the Imperial Warrant, producing work of originality and highest quality using decoration in the traditional Russian style on many pieces. Enamel was a speciality, especially plique-a-jour, but also cloisonne. Demand for its work was high and in 1882 it employed 200 craftsmen. The business succumbed at the time of the Russian Revolution.
