Description
**Originally Listed At $250**

Western Europe, Medieval to Post-medieval period, ca. 13th to 16th century CE. A fine pair of iron shears featuring a curved grip and flat triangular blades, that once scissored together when the U-band was clenched. Similar tools have been used for millennial for any variety of purposes: surgical cutting instruments, hair trimming, wool shearing, and grave goods. These early scissors were likely intended for sheep husbandry, but could certainly be used however the owner needed, and they are still quite sharp! Size: 6.75" L x 2" W (17.1 cm x 5.1 cm)

Provenance: ex-estate of Eldert Bontekoe, Pegasi Numismatics, Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA acquired before 2000
