Description
Contains two letters addressed to General Pierce Manning Young (1836-1896). Detailed love letters from Belle Mary confessing her love and admiration, worried she is being ignored. Letters dated May and June 1864 and speaks of a named soldier she knows that was wounded amongst much other news. At the time of the June letter General Young was deeply involved in Grant's Virginia Overland Campaign, Battle of Cold Harbour, and the Battle of Old Church, also known as Matadequin Creek, was fought on May 30, 1864. Each page measures 8"x10" and is filled with beautiful period script. Paper is folded so that there are 4 pages for the letter with one sheet.
Condition
Pages have some yellowing and fading from age. Letters still able to be read easily. Each paper: 8"x10"
