Description
Eastern Roman Empire, ca. 300 to 500 CE. Lovely squat rounded vase on ring base with short cylindrical neck and flared rim. Aubergine colored glass with white feathering as accent. Certainly used in a fine Roman villa as a container for salves, unguents or cosmetics. A really lovely example with scattered silvery iridescent surface patina. Size: 2.5" W x 1.5" H (6.4 cm x 3.8 cm)
