Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 3rd to 4th century CE. An impressive drinking cup, free blown from nearly transparent glass to present an incredibly thin composition. The vessel is defined by a planar, quadrilateral base, tall walls with 4 uneven indentations, a deep interior cavity, and an annular flared and rolled rim. Thick areas of fiery rainbow-hued iridescence accentuate the interior and exterior surfaces with hues of citrine, amethyst, emerald, ruby, and sapphire. A fragile yet elegant example of fine Roman glass-blowing artistry! Size: 3" W x 6.5" H (7.6 cm x 16.5 cm)

Condition
Repaired from several pieces with break lines visible and some restoration and adhesive visible near rim. Some stable hairline fissures. Expected abrasions. Otherwise, excellent with weathering film to interior and gorgeous iridescence.
