Description
Native American, southwestern United States, Southern Colorado Plateau, Ancestral Puebloan / Anasazi, Northern San Juan, Cortez Black-on-White type, ca. 880 to 1050 CE. An impressive pottery pitcher of the Cortez Black-on-White tradition, adorned with geometric and linear designs. Sitting upon a planar base, the ancient vessel presents a wide hip, an inward-sloping shoulder, and an annular rim, connected to the shoulder via a bifurcated handle. The surface is enveloped in a white slip with the interior left unadorned and the exterior boasting 2 horizontal bands of concentric triangular motifs. Size: 6.9" Diameter x 7.6" H (17.5 cm x 19.3 cm)

Condition
Professionally repaired with less than 10% restoration. Repainting over break lines, though some are still visible. Expected nicks and abrasions to surface as shown, as well as some areas of fire-darkening. Otherwise, very nice presentation with good remaining pigments.
